Michael Jackson Soccer Stadium Statue

Michael Jackson's collectible memorabilia status has been taken to new heights. A man named Mohamed Al-Fayed, owner of the Fulham Football Club (soccer), had commissioned the crafting of a 7ft 6in statue of Michael Jackson in June of 2009.

Finally, on April 3rd it was unveiled. The statue sits in front of the Craven Cottage Stadium. According to Mr Al-Fayed, he and the late "king of Pop" were good friends and he wanted to do this in honor of his friend.

He had originally planned to place the statue in a department store he owned, Harrods, but the store was sold before the statue was completed. Mr Al-Fayed stated that it was appropriate because MJ's music was a common sound in the locker rooms. Jackson also attended a game as Al Fayed's guest at Wigan in 1999.

A lot of people are criticizing the statue. I think it's fine. I do however, see where it would be more appropriate in a department store. Is it just me or does anyone else see it that way? I kinda think the creators wanted a certain feel for the original display location, a department store. It's more doll looking than life like.

Michael Jackson memorabilia is still very popular even after nearly 2 years of his death. Small collectible MJ statues and figurines are selling like crazy as new styles and designs are being manufactured.

News like this will surely increase sales and interest in Jackson collectibles. That statue is sure to draw a lot of visitors and curiosity seekers.

Michael Jackson Memorial Memorabilia

It's been just over a year since Michael Jackson's death. It is amazing to me how collectible and in demand his name still is. There is a lot of unique and interesting items out there along with the common collectible items, both of which are still highly sought after. Dolls, Beat It jackets, vinyl albums, autographs and even costume items continue to sell very well on eBay.

One of the more valuable items still being offered are the bracelets (wristbands), tickets and program brochure from the memorial service. Of course, these are very limited and serious MJ fans and collectors aren't likely to part with theirs if they were fortunate enough to win the lottery for the service.

Framed MJ Memorial Service Pieces

One such lucky person was "Ulisses from Los Angeles" who was chosen and invited as a guest by the AEG (Anschultz Entertainment Group) and he was kind enough to share his memorial service program with us. He was smart in having his professionally framed. (the man in the picture is not Ulisses, it's the framer)

Framed MJ Memorial Service Brochure, Wristband and Ticket

The framing was done with UV archival glass and was done with complete air sealing to prevent air from entering the frame. The items were placed on a black suede matting with a gold and blue suede matting on top of it. This will last many generations and will display nicely anywhere.

Simply beautiful! This is exactly how a collectible like this should be handled. And sorry, it's not for sale! I just wanted to share it with everybody. Thanks again Ulisses, I hope you get many years of enjoyment from your King of Pop collectible!

Michael Jackson Captain EO Collectibles Surge

Michael Jackson Collectors are seeking classic Disney EO memorabilia from the Michael Jackson short film "Captain EO" (in 3-D) that Disneyland showed from 1987-1994. The attraction was always very popular but was closed after 4 years of child molestation charges and media gossip hype.

The film is being shown in the Tomorrowland Theater and Disney says it will offer the show as long as it remains popular. I would imagine it will be a huge success this summer and beyond, particularly around the anniversary of MJ's death and his birthday not far after that.

Captain EO Film Clip

The Captain EO memorabilia from 87-94 has always been of interest to collectors and hobbyists alike and with the reopening of the show the sales of these pieces has skyrocketed! Items such as "Hooter the Elephant" pins, "Fuzzball" plush toys (Michael Jackson's companion during the film), Sweatshirts, T-Shirts and other original items purchased at Disneyland from this attraction. There is already a new souvenir button and shirt design available for purchase to visitors of the Disneyland show and collectors and fans are already scrambling for these!

Captain EO Logo at Disneyland

The Captain EO DVD is available for purchase but lets face it, there's nothing like watching this 3-D mini movie at the Disney theatre with the incredible sound and screen! I think Disneyland's Captain EO attraction is going to be showing for a good while. I've never seen it. Have you?

MJ in 3D

Michael Jackson 3-D Glasses
They just keep coming up with Michael Jackson surprises for us! This year we can all see MJ in 3D right in our own living rooms! Well, not exactly. If you haven't heard, the Grammy Awards will be airing a special movie produced by Michael Jackson, all shot in 3D, but Michael does not appear in it. You'll need special glasses to see this in Three Dimensional and the glasses are available at Target for FREE! Wow! The giveaway starts on Sunday, 01/24/2010. If you cannot get there I would imagine that any pair of 3-D glasses will work.

The movie clip is from an unfinished idea Jackson had from 2002. The clip will be a about a little girl in an awake and dream state focused around the good and bad of environmental issues. Don't really want to give it away here! Michael's rendition of Earth Song will acompany the video clip. Unfortunately, no Kind of Pop will appear though. Still, pretty cool. Will be interesting to see! The Grammy Awards will be aired on CBS January 31, 2010 · 8PM ET/PT

5 High Value Michael Jackson Collectibles Purchased on Ebay

The valuable high priced Jackson collectible memorabilia continutes to sell on a daily basis and I thought I'd list 5 that I found interesting. These pieces are from eBay auctions and are just a sampling of the hundreds of high ticket items that continue to come out of the woodwork and amazingly sell very quickly!

I didn't list any of the personal belongings of Michael Jackson from Neverland. We're seeing more and more of those type collectibles trickling in as time goes on but these are more trademark Jackson memorabilia items. The vintage and collectible dolls are still holding their value quite well and are still a very hot item! I particularly like the "one of a kind" dolls that some very talented artists are putting out. I may even do a post on just the OOAK dolls in the future.

These valuable pieces are not a "top five" list. They are just 5 items I chose that are somewhat unique and representative of what's selling for the big bucks as far as MJ collectibles. There are close to 100 collectible items that have sold for more than $10,000 on eBay since his death!

Michael Jackson Autogrpahed White Fedora Hat - Winning Bid $2742.47

Michael Jackson Autographed White Fedora Hat

This Smooth Criminal white fedora hat was autographed in 2002 by Michael Jackson and given as a gift to his general manager Dieter Weisner. (Was Jackson's manager from 1996-2003) The hat is one of the originals that Michael had in stock for performances or very special gifts. It's 100% wool made exclusively for him by Pacific/Dorfman with his name in gold letters on the inside band. It's doubtful that he wore this hat for any performances, possibly a few times just around town or the house. It is perfect mint condition. Congratulations to the lucky winner of this auction!

Michael Jackson Signed 1992 Dangerous Tour Jacket - Winning Bid $7,877.00

Signed MJ Dangerous Tour Jacket Michael Jackson Signature on Dangerous Tour Jacket Sleeve

This Jacket is an authentic Michael Jackson worn jacket that was given to a relative of a tour promoter. It was in Bucharest that this jacket was signed and given to the owner. It is interesting that following the signature it reads 1998.

MJ also signed his autobiography book "Moon Walk" in the same way on one of his drawings even though the book was released in 1988. Some say that his turning 40 in 98 may have been the reason but it's never really been revealed why he signed the book's drawing that way. It's uncertain how many autogrpahs he signed with thtat date too! At any rate, this is a beautiful collectible, especially knowing it was worn by The King of Pop!

Michael Jackson Dangerous Tour Custom Doll - Winning Bid $810.00

Custom Made One of a Kin MJ Doll from DAngerous Tour Michael Jackson Dangerous OOAK Doll Body & Head Dangerous Doll Full View Standing

This one of a kind Michael Jackson figure is a true labor of love by the artist! Everything from the face to the outfit is delecate, detailed and hand crafted. Painted, sewn, cut and measured it's hard to imagine how much work went into this figure! It is a very accurate reproduction of the Dangerous outfit. Beads and all!

I cannot even imagine having the patience to create such a detailed piece let alone have the talent to do so, and then to give it up! This artist said that it was the only Dangerous doll that would be done and that it took weeks of long hours of work to complete. This doll is truly "one of a kind" and is going to look great on someone's display of Jackson memorabillia!

Michael Jackson's First Motown Employee ID Pass Card - Winning Bid $6,888.88

Michael Jackson's First Motown Employee ID Pass Card

This ID card was issued to Michael Jackson right after signing with Motown. This gave him access to the Motown recording facilities complex. What a great piece of memorabilia! A one of a kind piece from the Jackson Five years. This would look great displayed by some of those old Motown singles! Congratulations to this winner!

Michael Jackson Signed Fender Strat with Custom Airbrushed Artwork - Winning Bid $6,999.99

Michael jackson Signed Fender Stratocaster w/Custom Airbrush

This white body Fender Strat was signed by Michael Jackson in Blue sharpie ink and looks great against the body of the guitar! After his death the owner had it professionally airbrushed and specially laminated for lifetime preservation of the signature and artwork. It was PSA/DNA authenticated and certified. Michael Jackson Costume Pieces

Creating your own Michael Jackson costume and finding all the pieces and props in time for your Halloween party is part of the thrill of constructing your own masterpiece. It's also the only way to get lots of compliments and win contests! And you can bet there will be plenty of Michael Jackson costumes out there this trick or treat season!

Going as the "king of pop" is a great way to pay tribute and it's also a fun costume to make. Over the decades, MJ had a handful of very recognizable dress themes for particular albums, songs or videos. You need only find a good picture, easily done by Googling in Michael Jackson and the name of the song. The attire consists mostly of a shirt, pants, shoes, hair style, hat and vest. Give or take, depending on the look.

Michael Jackson Face Close Up

Michael Jackson Face Close Up

Here's a good tip that's often overlooked. Take a good look at his face! His eyes and brows in particular, and even the lips. By adding the eyeliner and shaping the brows like his, you really add a subtle and recognizable feature to your costume! Be sure to darken or lighten your skin accordingly, depending on the photo or time period. The hair is another thing that changes between albums and videos so be sure to pay attention to that.

The best place to start looking is your local thrift store. You should be able to find a few pieces of costume clothing or props there for very cheap! But finding your entire costume there will be difficult, especially as Halloween approcaches. The next best place is eBay. You will surely find a good selection there and more variety in sizes for shirts, pants and vests. There will likely be more choices in women's clothing too.

Some of the most popular mental images we have of Michael Jackson for a costume would be from The Beat It and Billie Jean videos. These are terrific Michael Jackson costume ideas and finding the costume pieces for the outfits shouldn't be too difficult. Of course, for the Beat It costume you'll need the Red Beat It jacket for sure. If you can find that, you've practically won the battle!

For the Billie Jean costume you'll need the Black Fedora hat and White sequin glove. The rest is fairly easy and you shouldn't have trouble finding those other costume pieces of clothing. There's the Military look from the 90's and of course the Thriller monster.

For those that prefer to skip the work of making a costume, there will be plenty of Complete MJ costumes and masks available too! You might not win any contests with these but you can still get in on the Michael Jackson Halloween fun this year with a ready made costume!

Whatever you choose, have fun with it. That's what Halloween is all about. And by all means, especially if you are making your own costume, get started now! There's nothing worse than being almost complete with a week left, only to find out that one single piece you need cannot be found! So get moving on your Michael Jackson costume and Happy Halloween!
