I didn't list any of the personal belongings of Michael Jackson from Neverland. We're seeing more and more of those type collectibles trickling in as time goes on but these are more trademark Jackson memorabilia items. The vintage and collectible dolls are still holding their value quite well and are still a very hot item! I particularly like the "one of a kind" dolls that some very talented artists are putting out. I may even do a post on just the OOAK dolls in the future.
These valuable pieces are not a "top five" list. They are just 5 items I chose that are somewhat unique and representative of what's selling for the big bucks as far as MJ collectibles. There are close to 100 collectible items that have sold for more than $10,000 on eBay since his death!
Michael Jackson Autogrpahed White Fedora Hat - Winning Bid $2742.47
This Smooth Criminal white fedora hat was autographed in 2002 by Michael Jackson and given as a gift to his general manager Dieter Weisner. (Was Jackson's manager from 1996-2003) The hat is one of the originals that Michael had in stock for performances or very special gifts. It's 100% wool made exclusively for him by Pacific/Dorfman with his name in gold letters on the inside band. It's doubtful that he wore this hat for any performances, possibly a few times just around town or the house. It is perfect mint condition. Congratulations to the lucky winner of this auction!
Michael Jackson Signed 1992 Dangerous Tour Jacket - Winning Bid $7,877.00
This Jacket is an authentic Michael Jackson worn jacket that was given to a relative of a tour promoter. It was in Bucharest that this jacket was signed and given to the owner. It is interesting that following the signature it reads 1998.
MJ also signed his autobiography book "Moon Walk" in the same way on one of his drawings even though the book was released in 1988. Some say that his turning 40 in 98 may have been the reason but it's never really been revealed why he signed the book's drawing that way. It's uncertain how many autogrpahs he signed with thtat date too! At any rate, this is a beautiful collectible, especially knowing it was worn by The King of Pop!
Michael Jackson Dangerous Tour Custom Doll - Winning Bid $810.00
This one of a kind Michael Jackson figure is a true labor of love by the artist! Everything from the face to the outfit is delecate, detailed and hand crafted. Painted, sewn, cut and measured it's hard to imagine how much work went into this figure! It is a very accurate reproduction of the Dangerous outfit. Beads and all!
I cannot even imagine having the patience to create such a detailed piece let alone have the talent to do so, and then to give it up! This artist said that it was the only Dangerous doll that would be done and that it took weeks of long hours of work to complete. This doll is truly "one of a kind" and is going to look great on someone's display of Jackson memorabillia!
Michael Jackson's First Motown Employee ID Pass Card - Winning Bid $6,888.88
This ID card was issued to Michael Jackson right after signing with Motown. This gave him access to the Motown recording facilities complex. What a great piece of memorabilia! A one of a kind piece from the Jackson Five years. This would look great displayed by some of those old Motown singles! Congratulations to this winner!
Michael Jackson Signed Fender Strat with Custom Airbrushed Artwork - Winning Bid $6,999.99
This white body Fender Strat was signed by Michael Jackson in Blue sharpie ink and looks great against the body of the guitar! After his death the owner had it professionally airbrushed and specially laminated for lifetime preservation of the signature and artwork. It was PSA/DNA authenticated and certified. A pretty nice piece of Jackson memorabilia to have hanging in the background of your diaplay! (Way out of reach of children!)

Check out this interesting video of the many MJ dolls and statues produced from the early 80's up to the present. Beat it dolls, Billie Jean, The grammy awards figures and many other versions and styles inbetween. There are some customized, home made versions that are quite interesting to say the least...Enjoy!

Going as the "king of pop" is a great way to pay tribute and it's also a fun costume to make. Over the decades, MJ had a handful of very recognizable dress themes for particular albums, songs or videos. You need only find a good picture, easily done by Googling in Michael Jackson and the name of the song. The attire consists mostly of a shirt, pants, shoes, hair style, hat and vest. Give or take, depending on the look.
Michael Jackson Face Close UpHere's a good tip that's often overlooked. Take a good look at his face! His eyes and brows in particular, and even the lips. By adding the eyeliner and shaping the brows like his, you really add a subtle and recognizable feature to your costume! Be sure to darken or lighten your skin accordingly, depending on the photo or time period. The hair is another thing that changes between albums and videos so be sure to pay attention to that.
The best place to start looking is your local thrift store. You should be able to find a few pieces of costume clothing or props there for very cheap! But finding your entire costume there will be difficult, especially as Halloween approcaches. The next best place is eBay. You will surely find a good selection there and more variety in sizes for shirts, pants and vests. There will likely be more choices in women's clothing too.
Some of the most popular mental images we have of Michael Jackson for a costume would be from The Beat It and Billie Jean videos. These are terrific Michael Jackson costume ideas and finding the costume pieces for the outfits shouldn't be too difficult. Of course, for the Beat It costume you'll need the Red Beat It jacket for sure. If you can find that, you've practically won the battle!
For the Billie Jean costume you'll need the Black Fedora hat and White sequin glove. The rest is fairly easy and you shouldn't have trouble finding those other costume pieces of clothing. There's the Military look from the 90's and of course the Thriller monster.
Whatever you choose, have fun with it. That's what Halloween is all about. And by all means, especially if you are making your own costume, get started now! There's nothing worse than being almost complete with a week left, only to find out that one single piece you need cannot be found! So get moving on your Michael Jackson costume and Happy Halloween!

But what I mean is that items such as memorial T-Shirts and and any CD Michael Jackson put out are items that sold like crazy the first month of his death. These items were mostly bought on emotion and impulse and will hold little monetary or sentimental value to collectors in the future. That buying stage has died down a lot. Still, there is a thirsty demand for Michael Jackson memorabilia and here are what I see as the top five according to price paid and how many are being sold.
Grammy Awards Doll
Beat It doll. It's a very nice figure and it's a very hot item! These original dolls from 1984 are selling anywhere from $40 for a doll in poor condition to as much as $200 if new and still in the box! These are great collectibles and I'm surprised there are still so many out there. They will, however, only get more scarce and higher in price. Within a few months I doubt these will be seen too much. Occasionally clothing is offered for these dolls too and it goes for a pretty good price too! Get em while you can!
Thriller Album Sealed
Thriller album has been in great demand. It is going for as much as $250 for a first run original release. I can see why. As I wrote about in another post, these albums, the vinyl lp's, are truly collectible because it was the last big success story on vinyl. After that CD's came along and so it has a really cool story behind. It's the last of an era and it just happened to be the biggest success too! A great collectible if you can afford it. There are still opened ones in great condition and these are nice to have for a MJ collection too. They can be found still for $25-$75 depending on condition. I'm amazed at the demand for the sealed ones and the price they are bringing but the numbers don't lie! They are hot right now!
Memorial Service Program Book
memorial service kit is a great piece of memorabilia to have for a serious MJ display.
Red Beat It Jacket
red leather jackets are selling for $100-$300 depending on condition. The J Parks is very tough to find but it's out there if you've got the cash, a cool $400-$800 depending on condition! All of the vintage leather jackets were good quality so as long as the conditon is good you'll likely be happy with it. The J Parks looks awesome though! (No, i've never held one!) These jackets are a great Michael Jackson piece too. They will enhance any display so much as this is such a signature piece of Jackson attire from Thriller!
Moon Walk Autobiography
Moon Walk books from 1988 are in great demand and will always be for any serious collector. They can be found fairly easily but be prepared to pay well over $100 for a book in good to excellent condition.
That's my top five. There are other hot items but these are amazingly popular, selling regularly and fetching some pretty good prices too. It's still a great time to buy Michael Jackson collectibles and memorabilia. It's hard to imagine these items coming down in price though. The more they sell, the less of them there are. I didn't include autographs in here because I figure that goes without saying. Even before Michael Jackson's death autographs were very popular for a living legend.
I look for the red Beat It Jackets to become extremely rare in about a month. Why? Because of Halloween. There will certainly be a lot of people wanting to dress up as "the King of Pop" and with those red jackets being such a signature piece of clothing they will be in even greater demand. If you are thinking of getting one don't wait too long!

This new figure is much nicer than the old dolls Hot Toys released in the 80's. It even appears to be nicer than the Billie Jean doll, which is actually a very nice figure! I never really cared for any of the vintage Thriller figures out there but this one is going to make up for that!
There's little doubt this piece of Jackson memorabilia will be sold out before Christmas. Many sellers on eBay are taking pre-orders on these MJ figures which I think is the best route to go. Other wise you'll be paying a small fortune for these figures if you want one in time for Christmas.
I think anyone can see that this piece is a must have for any collection! If the doll looks as good "in hand" as it does in the pictures this may set a new higher standard for detail in these 12 inch collectibles! I think Michael Jackson would be pleased with this Hot Toys figure.

These items could turn out to be quite valuable to Michael Jackson collectors and fans in the not too distant future. When you consider that there were only about 8,000 people who attended, that's not a lot of programs in the scope of things. Approximately 1.6 million people signed up for the lottery to attend. About 30 million viewed the memorial service on TV. That's a lot of interest. Supposing that all 8,000 Michael Jackson memorial service program books, tickets and wristbands survive the ravages of time and age, that's still a very rare item with a huge demand!
The prices sellers are getting for these collectibles are varied from as low as $25 for a torn or stained ticket to $400 for a mint condition set. A set being the program book, ticket and wristband. Of course, most of these items are found on eBay and it seems a lot of inexperienced sellers set their items to end at odd times, like 3 or 4 Am. Since there's nobody up at that time shopping, these items sold really cheap to a lucky few! But I doubt that will last as people get smarter! (I wasn't one of the lucky ones!)
As with all collectibles though, what is it really worth? It's always up to the collector, quite often the sentimental value weighing in more than the monetary. However, with the Michael Jackson memorial service programs, I think this is one item that will always have some decent monetary value. It's just so scarce and the "King of Pop" legend is not going away any time soon.
Adding any of these pieces, the program book, wristband or ticket to a Michael Jackson collection will visually and emotionally enhance the display. I said it earlier, it can be precieved a little strange, but just think about it. At the most only 8,000 people in the world can have a full kit. And you know that isn't going to happen. It's going to be more like 3,000. And that's quite rare!

It's amazing how fast we outgrow the desire to sport such clothing when at one time it meant everything to us. It was our way of self expression and support to our musical hero Michael Jackson. But eventually we out grew that passion and gave up wearing the jacket. Often because we literally outgrew the jacket too!
Because we paid so much for these jackets we didn't pitch them, nor did we part with them. We stuck them in a box and then stored it in the attic or garage. Thousands of us did that. With the passing of Michael Jackson many people are digging out those old vintage tour jackets from the Thriller and Bad years. Even the Vicotry and Dangerous concert tours were a long time ago!
These jackets are now in great demand and people are selling their once cherished tour jackets in order to make a few bucks and get back their invenstment. This is simply outstanding news for us collectors! Never before has there been so many of these collectible Michael Jackson tour jackets from various concerts available. It's a MJ memorabilia dream come true and it will likely never be this good again.

Two interesting facts about the book are that Jacqueline K Onassis did the final edit and intro and "The King of Pop" dedicated Moon Walk to Fred Astaire.
Surprisingly a lot of these Moon Walk books for sale are autographed! Of course, any book signed by Michael Jackson is going to sell for a lot more. Generally, these books, first edition are selling for $75.00-$150.00, depending on the condition. Signed, autographed first edition versions are generally fetching around $200.00, some pristine pieces as much as $400.00.
While the selection of these books and other collectors merchandise is no doubt at it's height, and it's the best time ever to get in on the action, it's still just all so sad it had to happen this way. RIP Michael Jackson

The point of posting this is for one, I've never seen this picture. Obviously taken in the 80's but have no idea where. I cannot believe how handsome this young man is! Very fit and with a spectacular smile. For the life of me I cannot understand why he did what he did to himself, his face!
If it were mine I wouldn't have touched a thing. I'd have to say God did a pretty good job on this young man, wouldn't you? Well anyway, this is the Michael most of us want to remember and likely will.
I cannot remember if these dolls were more for kids or if adults bought them too back in the 80's. At any rate, they are great pieces of memorabilia to have today. Like all the other collectible vintage Michael Jackson merchandise for sale lately, it's coming from people who are cleaning out their garages and attics in search of this stuff. They are motivated to selling knowing they will get a few bucks for almost anything MJ related.
Vintage Figures 80's
But the real winners are us, the collectors. While most of this stuff is a little over priced, it's not ridiculous and being able to find whatever I want has got me drooling on a daily basis! Doll, figures and statues that were not anywhere to be found over the past couple years are easily found now, and that's well worth a little bit of price inflation.
This truly is the best time ever to buy these figures of Michael Jackson vintage dolls. In a few short months, possibly sooner, this vintage merchandise will be in very limited supply and replaced with new, commercially motivated items. Most of which will never be very collectible or valuable in my opinion. Yes, there will be some very nice figures and busts coming out, but the true vintage Jackson dolls and action figures from the 80's are irreplaceable.
Michael Jackson Dolls
What's nice about these dolls, especially now so soon after his death, is that they are not fake. There hasn't been enough time to put out the fakes and besides, these dolls are easily discerned. Just look around at pictures and you can tell. All that packaging would have to be faked too and I doubt the frenzy is going to last long enough for that to happen. (for dolls, that is)
If you've been wanting to add to your collection or just want a piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia, consider a toy doll! Find one that you like, one that represents Billie Jean or Thriller for example, and buy it while you can! It will make a nice "King of Pop" keepsake for years to come.

I've seen some very rare Jackson Five magazine covers too, from the early 70's which I've never seen before. Even though the 80's were saturated with Michael Jackson headlines and magazines, there were some rare issues and they are being made available. I've also replaced a few of my magazines with ones that were in much better shape.
I've always liked magazines for a collection. They add to the timeline in a way that nothing else can. The pictures inside magazines are generally of very good quality and there's lots of them. The ads represent the time period and there's always dates if not on every page, at least a few and in the ads.
A magazine can be held and looked at and I suppose it's the idea that you can read it that makes me enjoy them so much as part of my Michael Jackson collection. It's really cool when someone sees my display, comments on it and walks over, picks up the magazine and reads it. I think it makes the collection more magical.
Michael Jackson magazine for your collection. Are you taking advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity?

Thriller was a huge success and it was the last monster success for any artist before CD's took over. This makes it unique, in my opinion and why I think every Michael Jackson collection should have the Thriller album, one of the original 1982 -84 vinyl 33-1/3 rpm lps, proudly displayed
There are a lot of these old records for sale now as folks are cleaning out their attics in hopes of making a few bucks on their "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" albums. The ones who benefit the most are collectors like myself and you! These folks are giving up something very unique, not just a record, but a time period. An American icon. A transitional period in the music indurstry. Pre-AOL....heck it was pre-internet and pre-windows! Collecting is about memories and time gone by and the Thriller album does all of that.
So go ahead people, you keep on cleaning out those old boxes of Michael Jackson merchandise and let us collectors have a go at it! I've never seen a better time to buy "The King of Pop" collectibles. The selection right now is like an open buffet! I doubt if they'll be re-filling this buffet though. Get em while you can!

There are many autographs of MJ out there but certain time periods hold more value, such as early Thriller era periods or his very private and troublesome 2000-2004 years. These signatures, often just scribbled on a napkin, can bring a lot of money if you are fortunate enough to own one.
The value of a Michael autograph can mean much more than just the amount of money it can fetch. Autographs hold sentimental value that cannot be measured in dollars. The vast majority of his autographs are purchased for this reason, by very devoted fans. There is something magical about owning Michaels signature that captures ones imagination and gives a sense of closeness that cannot otherwise be felt except for a meeting in person.
Posters, photos and albums are popular items to find with an autographs. Fortunately, prints can be purchased too. These are very nice, quality duplicates of the original autograph and make very nice keepsakes for those that cannot afford the real deal.
If you are seeking MJ's autograph or any collectible from the late King of Pop, now is the time so find what you need. The market is flooded and there is a huge selection to choose from. Once these items are sold, of course, there will be few available and what is left will command a very hefty price.
